From my perspective, PowerPoint is not an analytical tool. It is a tool to present analysis done elsewhere.

Excel (or any other computer spreadsheet) is the most powerful analytical tool generally available to sales people. It is the 2x2 matrix on steroids.

Excel lets you take the 2x2 and break it down into an almost infinite number of x by x's and then roll up to a simple 2x2 for clarity. And the pivot table lets you play with these x by x's until you have exhausted every possibility.

As Ogden Nash said, "Candy is dandy. But liquor is quicker." As I say, "2x2 is of use. x by x turns you loose."
